I have a irtoy v2... I use it purely as a testing tool to verify things are as I expect...
How can I tell which IR Receivers and which emitter was used? I've seen a few irtoy's and they all appeared to have different IR components.
thanks
The schematics is found here: http://http://dangerousprototypes.com/docs/images/6/6c/Cct-USB-IRToy-vii.png. Accordingly, the demodulating sensor is a TSOP38238, the non-demodulating sensor is a QSE159. Google will find data sheets. The sending IR LED appears not to be specified. There are many alternatives, from Vishay (e.g TSAL6100), Osram (e.g. SFH4546)) and others. Just Google or look at Mouser or Digikey. To watch out for is that you get one using 940-950nm wavelength (for customer IR), not one with 890nm (optimized for IRDA).
Thanks - so the parts just look different then... I have seen some with blue paint on, others not; some with a metal "X" sheild over it (and connected to ground pin) and others not...
Thanks.
