Hey!
I tried to find some answers on this forum and even asked my friend google.. but somehow its not yet clear to me.
Sorry if this is a real n00b question but, how can I determine wich JTAG unit I need?
I have a board that I would like to do a boundary scan on and see what I can find. And after that I would if possible program 2 chips with new data if possible..
The board is populated with:
1x K9F1G08U0M 128M x 8 Bit / 64M x 16 Bit NAND
1x 29LV160BB 16M-BIT CMOS 3.0, Boot device
The card also these (I dont know if that makes my choice any different?):
Altera Cyclone EP1C12 FPGA
Altera EPM7032
But Its the 2 flash chips I want to reprogram.
how do I know wich Jtag hardware I need? I have checked this Bus Blaster and other J-Link hardwares and such, but many seem to be for a specific usage.. specific ARMs or others.
Can I use the Bus Blaster for this perhapps? (the card have a 14pin jtag)
And is there any software with a simpel windows gui to use with the bus blaster?
Thanks all for reading this far, hope someone can help me in this matter.
Best regards from the newly joined Swede
You should be able to use Bus Blaster. I use mine mainly to program Xilinx FPGAs. For JTAG program, you can use urJTAG, Linux version works OK, for Windows version, I believe you need a patch. Unfortunately it's command line.
For ARM microcontrollers, I use OpenOCD for programming and debugging. Again I use this under Linux, again it's command line based.
thanks for the reply, I sent you a PM :)
