I'd like to display parts in my Gerber Viewer, in addition to the PCB itself. Can someone recommend a repository of 3D models that I could use for standard parts, like common SMD resistors and capacitors, some TQFP packages, micro-USB connectors?
I found some on the EagleUp website, but they are in SketchUp format, and I haven't found a way to automatically convert them to an open format I can read.
EagleUp was written in Ruby perhaps you could reuse some ideas from the source code to read the SketchUp format?
I believe EagleUp itself just generate some scene data file that only reference the parts meshes, and it's SketchUp itself that opens them, but maybe it's using the same format for a complete scene and a single model. I'll have a look at the sources :-D
