Hey all i am working with the Version 1 of the IR Toy and have been trying to get it to work in Windows 8.
Currently it just says "CDC Test" in the device manager.

And the info on that says:

When i update the drivers using these 2 files (from the USBIRToy.package.v22.zip):

It gives me this:

Could i be missing a step?
I think this is related to the driver signing problem. As I recall, you can only install signed drivers to Windows 8. There is a way to install unsigned drivers but you have to check out how.
I wrote up a quick guide on how to self-sign the driver and make it work in Windows 8.1 64. Here's the summary:
1. Get the inf-file in order (and I put the Usb Ir Toy repository on Github)
2. Generate certificates
3. Trust the certificate
4. Install the new driver
This doesn't require the test mode or disabling driver signing. I also included the certificates and updated driver files on the Github repo so it should be rather easy for someone to install it.
