I'm not exactly clear on which remote controls in my collection should be decoded by the default IR decoder mode. I have a Sony television with remote, and one of those Apple remote controls which happen to be Sony-compatible. Is the USB IR Toy firmware going to decode these in the default mode?
I am getting promising data from the IRIO mode, so my board is working.
I guess it boils down to how many remotes in the field implement RC-5. I see on the sbproject sites that there is a Sony SIRC protocol, but there is no indication of whether all Sony remotes implement this. I think I may have been confused by San's comment "The RC-5 code from Philips is possibly the most used protocol by hobbyists, probably because of the wide availability of cheap remote controls." For some reason, after reading that I assumed that all of my remotes would be using RC-5
Anyone have any experience?
The nice thing is that the USB IR Toy is an analyzer, so I don't feel stuck. I suppose I'll eventually be able to decode every remote that I own, even if I have to write my own decoder.
Never mind.
I found a remote that emits RC-5/RC-5x, and I see that the USB IR Toy decodes the messages when in the default IR decoder mode.
I'm working on a Mac decoder application, and hopefully what I learn could be used to expand the built-in decoder capabilities of the USB IR Toy firmware.
