Title: Board gets hot when I short inputs to ground
Post by: stickben on January 16, 2013, 01:59:11 pm
Just wondering if I am crazy, but it seems like something is trying to drive the unbuffered pins on my board.  I am trying to use RLE on group 0 and enable all groups for more time, but when I ground the unbuffered (group 2,3) pins to ground, the LDOs get hot and I still get noise on the inputs.  Is there something driving these pins?  I measured about 1.6 volts on all of them.

Help?

It's normal to have some random voltage on them when they are floating, however if you want to see if they are driven, you'll have to measure the amps.

Make sure the test mode check box is not set in the Capture->Acquisition popup menu.  In test mode the unbuffered pins are driven by a test pattern which can be feed back to the buffered inputs to verify the functionality of the board.
