Is there any driver for Win8 ?
I've tried the driver from USBIRToy.package.v22.zip package, but it's not possible to install it.
Win8 x64 Profi
any ideas or beta versions of drivers ?
Posted the solution for this in another thread here viewtopic.php?f=23&t=4738#p46678 (http://dangerousprototypes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=4738#p46678)
You have to deactivate driver signing, because the driver for the USB Infrared Toy isn´t signed.
Wouldn't it be a better solution to sign the driver?
If you find someone who pays for that...
Every signing of the driver costs about 250$ for each Windows version.
Also you have to pay for resigning with every change of the driver.
And you have to send them the hardware to test the driver.
The testing for the signing is also a lot of work.
You have to test it with every Windows Version you want it to have signed it with. (Home, Professional, Ultimate, x86, x64 etc)
But you can also let them test it. But you can think of it. Costs extra.
That is one of the reasons why drivers for several devices often are not published very fast...
At least in Windows.
Well you could sign the driver yourself using private signing. But if you have an official driver everybody can downaload that´s no solution.
Well in the other thread mentioned before, someone suggested to use a free signing for Open Source Projects (https://www.certum.eu/certum/cert,offer ... rce_cs.xml (https://www.certum.eu/certum/cert,offer_en_open_source_cs.xml)) and even posted a website with a Walkthrough (https://github.com/pbatard/libwdi/wiki/ ... alkthrough (https://github.com/pbatard/libwdi/wiki/Signed-Driver-Walkthrough)) so where's the problem?
Hmm ok.
Didn´t know it´s possible signing specifically for Open Source drivers.
I only know about signing "normal" drivers.
Thought this signing method was more for testing own drivers...
do you know how i can sign it myself using private signing?
because I didn't find any howto on the internet and I don't want to stay in Test Mode the whole time.
I've written a short article about how to create your self-signed driver package for the Usb Ir Toy. I've also published the updated signed files on Github. Here's the summary:
1. Get the inf-file in order (and I put the Usb Ir Toy repository on Github)
2. Generate certificates
3. Trust the certificate
4. Install the new driver
This doesn't require the test mode or disabling driver signing. I also included the certificates and updated driver files on the Github repo so it should be rather easy for someone to install it.
