Thanks DP for the Scratch & Dent web platform. It's a version v1c. I plugged it in, found a new device on 192.168.1.8, and successfully ping'ed it. Also I downloaded web-platform/firmware/MCstackDemo/dp-wp-stackdemo.v0b.hex and saw the blinky LED, and got the UART echo at 115200 baud. So I'm happy the ds33 chip works. But when I opened a browser and navigated to 192.168.1.8, expecting to see a redirect to the MPFS upload page, I could not connect. Any advice?

I had the Web Platform connected to my laptop using a RJ45. Should it be connected to my router instead? It may be one of those instructions that seems so obvious it is not in the documentation.

You have to set up your laptop's IP address manually then. And maybe even use a cross cable (I've been told modern PCs do not require this but...).
Usual way is to connect it to your router. You are right, I guess nobody thought about putting that into documentation. :)

If you plugged it into your laptop, not your router, where did it find a DHCP server from which to get an IP address of 192.168.1.8? The default IP address is hardcoded as 192.168.1.1 if no DHCP server is found.
192.168.1.1 is the address of my wireless router at home. I think I changed the default address to 192.168.1.8 when I was messing around hacking a second router which was connected to the LAN socket to my laptop and didn't want to keep turning off the wireless connection.

Network notes: These examples assume the Web Platform is wired with CAT5 cable to your home Broadband/DSL Router's Ethernet port, and you are working from a computer either on the same wireless or wired network. Direct connection (laptop to Web Platform) will not work so easily as there is no device to give out DHCP addresses.
