Hey everyone,
I am new here and it has been a while since I have played around with electronics. I have a challenge for myself to work on during the summer. I aim to create a USB LCD display which can show the current song playing and the number of listeners for both of my internet radio stations. I am however confused as to what I need to purchase to achive this let alone start playing with programming. I have a feeling the programming should not be too hard as I think there is software out there that allows PHP to be displayed on the LCD and therefore I could use the fsock command to gain the information from the server and bring it into the PHP.
Any thoughts on this and if anyone knows of where I can get a kit at a good price in the UK I would be grateful, also I do not have the facilities to solder so I would be hoping to purchase the correct components already connected.
Thanks
Ste Crook
our lcd backpackhttp://http://dangerousprototypes.com/docs/PIC_LCD_backpack works with hd44780 display
mine is currently attached to a 2x40 char display, using lcd smartie i have cpu/mem stats and system uptime + network usage in a single frame.
if you run a linux server it can be used with lcdproc.
