Title: Reset button for v3.5 bus pirate?
Post by: lectroloet on May 31, 2012, 07:53:13 pm
Hello!

I am new here, my name is Lectrolöt.  I purchased a bus pirate recently and that's why I am here now.

My question is whether it is possible to add a reset button to the bus pirate v3.5?  Has anyone does this?  I mean a real physical button that I can press instead of pulling and reattaching the USB plug.

Best regards,
  Lectrolöt

Try shorting MCLR and GND on the ICSP header. That should reset the PIC.

If you found the right push button with through-hole leads you could attach it to the ICSP header between GND and MCLR. When you push it it should ground the MCLR pin and reset the PIC.

Ah, of course.  So easy.  I just did that and it works like a charm, thanks!

Glad you got it. If you post a picture we'll put it on the front page as a Bus Pirate hack :)

or make one that fit the header, a bit like my lowtech buttons with shorter wires,  i used them short and long wire versions everywhere  :o)
