Hello,
For my next free pcb cupon I plan getting an Bus Blaster v3.0 board,
the FT2232H I`ll get from ebay, but the XC2C32A is not available, nor at the suppliers in Europe, and from Digikey shipping is too expensive, for this design is the XC2C32A replaceable with the XC9572XL ,this would be available at local suppliers.
Thank you.
regards,
Cosmin
Maybe-
1. The pinouts are very similar and they are close to compatible, you would need to double check though.
2. You would loose voltage level translation. The XC2C has two voltage banks, the FT2232 side at 3.3volts, and the target side at 1.2-3.3volts. The XC9572 has a single voltage bank and is fixed at 3.3volts (due to the FT2232 side being 3.3volts), it is 5volt tolerant though.
3. The FT2232H cannot program the XC9572XL, so you would need to use an external programmer like the Bus Pirate.
4. You would need to recompile the buffer image for the new chip.
Coolrunner II are very common, and the 32 costs about $1 in 1s, I'm surprised you can't get it.
Mouser don`t have it, neither TME, and couldn`t find it on ebay.
maybe when I get the next board, if I could buy one from you.

Cosmin
How about xc2c64a - it is at farnell. You would need to compile the buffer for the chip, but I think everything else is the same:
http://uk.farnell.com/xilinx/xc2c64a-7v ... tt=xc2c64a (http://uk.farnell.com/xilinx/xc2c64a-7vqg44c/cpld-coolrunner-ii-64mcell-44vqfp/dp/1605831?Ntt=xc2c64a)
Is the BB 4 going in production? is there an ETA?
can I make a BB4 combining a ft2232 breakout board and a XC2C64A CoolRunner-II CPLD development board ?
It has not even been tested yet, there is no ETA. Maybe 2013 or so. It uses 64A, but needs the 100 or 144 pin version.
can I use a ft2232 breakout board and a XC2C64A CoolRunner-II CPLD development board as a jtag debugger?
Yeah, that should work. At that point though, why not just build the original Bus Blaster with the 64A CPLD?
I cant find all the parts, the cpld and the crystal I think, the board in the free pcb is sold out.
I would like a bus blaster but a cpld dev board would be good for learning, and the ftdi board is always usefull.
