The point of this was going to be a review of a of a yihua 878ad 2in1 solder station and about me making a bus pirate case but then i remembered i suck at writing, my camera is a load of crap and i have little design skills, but what the hell.
The yihua 878ad well honestly the only reason i bought it was because it was the cheapest 2in1 solder station on ebay £67 next day delivered. it's a standard chinese clone, it works and it does the job (see i suck at writing i've run out of things to say)
anyways my point being it's a 100% better than the £10 soldering iron i have been using and i'm very happy with it
well first thing i thought i'd try was the hot air because i have never done it before, i was surprised how quick it got hot and how easy and clean desoldering some ram chips was

next up i decided to give the iron a quick test, the board on the left i did a few years ago and i remember it taking all day because i sucked and being really proud that i managed to do it (that well???) the board on the right is not complete yet but i did that in about 5 minutes i danced at this point because thats the best soldering i have ever done, i do have a single complaint here about the iron as it only came with a very fine needle point tip so i plan on buying some replacement tips as soon as i have some cash

as i was planning on making my bus pirate case using hot air i needed some plastic so i cut up a butter tub and began sketching my design

really should have remembered to mirrored my design but no worry's i'd make more mistakes yet but it's all a learning experience

all going well but on the next bend the plastic all shrivelled up maybe the air was to hot or the plastic to thin, and if your wondering why you keep seeing the smd proto board it's because i was using it as my straight edge

so i went back and redid all the steps using the bottom of the tub as it was thicker plastic and used a lower temp and i don't think it turned out to bad, i admit i will do it again as i get better at using my new tool, but overall i'm very happy with how everything went

there you go a badly written review with very little substance and a poorly designed case and yet i still feel good and that's all that counts
