I don't think that this is an open project, but I bet one or two people might be interested in reading about a 1.2 kA motor driver circuit based on the PIC16F877.
Electric Porsche 944 (http://http://www.jstraubel.com/944EV/EVproject.htm)
This thing puts out so much torque that it has to be run at 3/4 power to avoid slipping the clutch!
cool. I've always had a soft spot of the Porsche 928, don't know why, could be my friends older brother had one when I was a lot younger :)
I drove an electric 911 (997 eRUF) once.
They've imposed tons of limits. No hard accelerations, no going above 80 km/h...
"It's bad for the batteries", was the official line.
It was probably so all of us (journalists) could take a turn before the thing dies.
Unfortunate, as i really wanted to see how agile that thing is :)
Anyways, don't have a clue what RUF put in there, apart from some Siemens gear (it was at a Siemens press conference), but it was built really really nicely. Would've loved to pick it apart.
thanks for the link, rsdio - the author almost made the electric conversion sound easy:)
