I just noticed the new web platform picture on the home page has a (dreaded) 'red' wire across the FTDI USB chip. Was that a forgotten connection? Is the connection properly routed on the production (Seeed) boards?
Inquiring minds want to know!

The PCB is fine, and the production version is also fine.
The SD card server demo failed between getting the demo going on Tuesday, and testing it prior to publishing on Wednesday. I spent the whole day trying to figure out what was wrong. In the process, I tried to isolate and test each component separately. To test the FTDI chip I had to drill out a trace, later I had to reconnect it with a jumper wire. The board turned out to be fine, but my test SD card, which has seen heavy daily (ab)use over the last 3 years, developed some electrical problem. A new SD card fixed everything, but not until I spent a whole day fretting over the PCB. There's a little writeup about this at the end of the article.
Hi Ian,
Thanks for the reply! I guess I should have read the full post to learn the reason for the red wire before posing my question......
Anyway, I've cut many a PCB trace during troubleshooting myself, so I know what it's like! I always hate to do it, and mess up a nice board, but sometimes it's the only (practical) way to troubleshoot a problem!
