Title: Hard drive?
Post by: klootnz on December 13, 2009, 10:42:56 am
Hi,
Would it be possible to add circuit and software to connect a hard drive? I know there are linux-based ones around, but it would be quite nice to have one with comprehensible hardware.
Cheers
Klaus

There are lots of compact flash libraries for microcontrollers, I believe compact flash uses the same physical and protocol interfaces as a hard drive. That might be a good place to start looking for existing code and connection examples. My primary concern would be: are there enough I/Os to drive the interface. I believe CF cards require more than 10pins, but I'm not really sure.

maybe a sata interface might be worth looking into due to the reduced i/o requirements
