Here's the first two CPLD breakout boards. The designs are on the wiki. I'll build them up now.
they look great
Nice!
Will they be avaliable for purchase at seeedstudio soon?
I've tried to work with the CPLDs, but a development board is so expensive. I hope they are less expensive and can get one of them.
The should be available soon, (3-6 weeks). You will need an external programmer (like the Bus Blaster) to program them, but they are very inexpensive, hopefully around $5-$10, but I don't yet have a quote. The chips used are only $2 in 1s, so it should be reasonable.
I don't know whether to say "Awesome!" or "Excellent."
May I suggest a kit with a board + the bus blaster for beginners like me?
The bus blaster v2 has a coolrunner cpld as the buffer. It is connected to the second jtag port on the ft2232 and can be programmed without external stuff, so it is a mini cpld dev board. The extra pins are at a header, and the v2.1 will have a button and led too. The breakout is a bigger version of the cpld, so try it out and then implement it on a the breakout.
