Hi,
i have been thinking about an upgrade to the original pic webserver. but since you released this it seems to fit better here.
I was thinking of somthing like the following. remember this originally came from the webserver idea.
Upgrade the Micro to a pic32 micro with usb. this give more i/o, more memory more speed for not alot more cost over the pic18 or pic24 series that are currently used.
add the usb port
add micro sd slot
add the option of running either a stanard 20x4 text display and or a
color graphical display (the psp or maybe the nintendo DS displays come to mind.)
a display with a touch screen would be nice
or the option for 5-6 buttons.
for me the ideal situation was to look into how to create a display that is compatible with the external slideshow displays. hopefully the extra horsepower of the pic32 would be enough to run the display as decent frame rates.
see see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_SideShow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_SideShow) for slideshow info
also with either touch screen or buttons would allow it to run in different modes.
having the displays as an option to the board allows us to run a webserver board or add the displays for a usb or standalone display either color or text based.
i was thinking if it could be made under $100 with a decent color display it would be ok. With the text based display i dont think it would be much more than a twatch as there isnt much more in the parts.
anyway this was my idea that ive been mulling over for a while. im not sure if it fits better here inthe twatch area or int he webserver area.
does anyone have any comments / idea's etc.
I'd be up for a PIC32 upgrade to the business card webserver. I'd prefer it to be headless though, but I'd probably be the exception. I'm basically interested in it for development and as a sensor (audio) webserver board.
I like your idea also though.
Well with the headless idea. i was thinking that there would be a header for the lcd's but they wouldnt need to be installed.
so should still work headless
