Title: bus pirate fails selftest

i've been using my bus pirate a lot the past couple of days, and I think something on it may have lost some of it's magic smoke.  The two primary uses i use with this device are to use it as a UART tx/rx for consoling into devices such as a raspberry pi when i f* up wireless or networking in general.  the other use i have for it is using it with flashrom to dump the contents of flash chips which i've had decent results with in the past, however my BP decided it was not going to read a SPI chip anymore for whatever reason. (i've had my issues with flashrom in the past using the BP).  however i do keep around an open bench logic sniffer for easy dumping of flash which have done several times in the past with no issues, but i've had no luck using the BP to dump flash content (SPI) in the past couple of days.

and for whatever reason I decided to run the selftest mode today and noticed there 6 errors on my BP when running the test.

looking at the output above does this mean there is a physical component issue with my BP or am i missing something here? i did do a search in the forums about this and heard of people running into issues running the selftest on these with jumpers and what not.

I have a bpv3a from seed studio dated sep 2009

and the current FW and bootloader is listed below

any and all help would greatly be appreciated as i desoldered a spi chip in hopes to get the contents of it, but i think i need to figure out whats going on with my BP first.

well i'm an idiot. i just read my post after posting it, and noticed i didn't

i just added those two jumpers and now the pirate is reporting 0 errors.
