I am not sure if it is still active. Win/lirc could really do with a database to upload/rate config files But sadly I lack the time or the knowledge to do that :p
You can use irrecord to turn a raw config into hex codes. I can't remember how exactly but it should work. Just load irrecord via command line with the correct plugin and the config name
Some remotes can be problematic recording. Try recording with the remote like 1 inch from the receiver. Failing that,
start irrecord via command line and record in 'raw' mode. It'll record without trying to decode the signal and possibly failing I think the command line is -f
It should work fine if you have a 455 receiver. Even though the frequency is crazy high, the pulse/space lengths are pretty similar to that of normal remotes.
The irtoy plugin assumes that the device is in IRMan mode, so if its already in some other mode it might cause problems. I am sure there is an easy way to fix that.
The repeats are not normally an issue as winlirc will find the gap between signals so should be able to differentiate between different remote presses. With some recievers they have a special learning sensor which u have to use the remote about 1 inch away. Sometimes doing that can help, since it minimise problems with interference from compact flourescent lightbulbs and reflection.
Yeah it works. But it's a pretty crude port of the linux version, which really isn't the cleanest source in the world. There are a variety of reasons why it can fail, but in my experience it's because it didn't get a consistent signal when learning. But there are other reasons, some remote protocols are just bizare and can't be learnt with standard tools. Sometimes the remote will use a frequency like 50khz which will cause problems with a 38k receiver.
