Open Bench Logic Sniffer / Re: OBLS update not working, ACT not lit
Hi Ian,

That worked for me ( shorting the pins, etc ) and I was able to recover.

Afterwards I did the same firmware upgrade steps and selections that killed my
OLS earlier and  finished the whole thing without any problems this time.

Thanks!

Open Bench Logic Sniffer / Re: OBLS update not working, ACT not lit
My problem is somewhat similar to dion so I have decided to add to this thread instead of creating a new one. I hope that is ok.

So to start my upgrade attempt, I loaded up the client, and did a capture run. All went well, I recorded the active port as COM89.

I then went on to run the Upgrade script, specifying the com port and pressing Upgrade+Reset which lit up both LEDs. After confirming that, the upgrade script opened a cmd window that showed it proceeding with an update. That also went well and i recall seeing something about entering or starting the bootloader.  I next selected logic_sniffer_3.07-Demon-Core.bit" and "OLSv1.firmware.v3.0.hex" when asked and confirmed.
A new window was opened which had an  "HID buffer" error then the upgrade terminated.

Sorry for the non-exact error, I have upgraded my board previously without issues and so was caught not paying attention.

At this point, the OLS is no longer being detected when you plug into into a USB port. The power LED is ON but depressing Update and then clicking Reset does nothing, tho just clicking Reset does light up the ARM led on other side of the board.

This line was also in the upgrader log file -
[11/01/2012 16:39:09] !!! Err: LastError = 1167  File: .pic_bootloader.cpp, Line: 673

Does this mean that the bootloader is gone?

I see that there is a serial port header beside the USB connector, can i use this in place of the USB and any chance it is 5v+ friendly ?

What would be the best way to proceed? I have access only to a pickit2.

TIA

Bus Pirate Support / Frequency counter
Hello,

I just tried the frequency counter function on my board and found that I could not get a reading
on anything lower than 256Hz (lower frequencies just returns 0Hz). This is on a v3 board that
had been upgraded to 4.1.

Anyone having the same issue with their unit? I could not find any related issues on the forum so
it might just be me.

Thanks
Ronald
