I would avoid the top floor.  Lots of buckets down the hall catching the leaks from the roof and my room had a horrific sewer gas smell.  I've spent enough time in India to be fairly immune to these issues but avoid it if you can.

Ian, I would skip the free bit and charge $5 or so (or perhaps free with coupon or free with order over $50).  People will abuse free and create work for you with little benefit to themselves.

Paste would be handy.  I also think you should offer SOB cases (cut to order with dxf or gerber submission if you want).  Even just the SOB hardware (correct bolts and standoffs) would be handy.

(I concur with Ian the great firewall is a great frustration, there seems to be no pattern to what works and when). 

A vpn to HK might work but they probably treat HK like the rest of the world (ducks to avoid the wet fish but was too slow and got smacked in the ear).

I've been asked about how I programmed the bootloader so I'm putting the doco here.  For all my AVR work I use a bus pirate v3 with the stk500 firmware.  I have a cable I made that adapts the bus pirate to the 6 pin AVR ICSP connector.

For MakeyMakey I made an adapter cable to convert the 6 pin AVR ICSP connector to the MakeyMakey header.  I prototyped the cable using individual 0.1" socket to pin cables and then moved them to single 2x3/1x6 housings to make the cable permanent.

The MakeyMakey schematic decodes the header in two parts

Project logs / MakeyMakey from Dirty PCBs, hell yeah!
MaKeyMaKey was a very successful Kickstarter from some smart guys at MIT (http://makeymakey.com). It uses capacitive touch to stimulate USB HID devices using a Arduino Leonardo compatible programming environment.



We ran a workshop at VHS in Vancouver Canada last night building these using PCBs from Dirty PCBs. The design is open hardware, the Eagle files, bootloader and sketches can all be found on github (https://github.com/sparkfun/makeymakey).

Bus Pirate Development / Is this possible ?

Yes, I was excited about this but the speed is horrific.


The dual pic idea is a decent one but you'll need to make sure the output of the unused device are floating.  Might be easier to add a second identical pcb and share the ft232.

Dude there are so many ways you can make suggestions.  Doing it in a manner that makes the receiver of the suggestion feel great is a good start.  Lets try that again.

Hey Ian, I really like my dirty secrets kept between you and me.  https certificates aren't that expensive, once that 50c a board makes you rich how about forking out for an https certificate?  Until then I'll take my 50c elsewhere....
