I think its interesting they can get the other layers right (every time for me) but the silk is such a crapshoot. I guess they have a bunch of people aligning them and how well it is done depends on the person (and the time of day). ie. the good people all do the copper and mask layers, silk is the training/proving ground.

Forgot that I use gerbmerge. It doesn't work too well with kicad though because it outputs metric gerbers. I found a fork that had fixed this but wasn't capable of mixing metric and inch so I was unable to combine eagle and kicad which was what I wanted to do.
Gerbmerge just stores the data raw, it retains the precision from the file. if you end up trying to merge two gerbers of different precisions this won't work either.

Now that taobao accepts foreign credit cards there is no need to use an agent.
Add your foreign address to your account, during checkout you will be offered freight forwarders who will accept your parcels and forward them to you. No commission, just the forwarded freight charge. All of the above spam is now redundant.
One tip, you often have to turn off translate when selecting items within the taobao system, memorise the position of the thing you are selecting, turn of the translation and select it. The translation seems to interfere with the javascript.
It turns out to be fairly easy because, looking at the openscad source, it only generates line segments in its dxf export. Unfortunately it does not export color information so I can't do multiple layers but I'll work on that next.
This of course opens up the possibility of generating any crazy pcb shape you want with openscad.
I added pre-generated dxf files for all sizes to the above. They seem to load fine in our (somewhat picky) lasercad software that drives our cutter. You mileage may vary, test on a piece of scrap.
Hi David in Austin, TX and one a free PCB a week back. How long beofre I can expect it to arrive and can I buy stickers and cable markers? Thanks
Free pcbs ship airmail from china, expect at least 3-4 weeks to the US.
I think the stickers and cable marker prototypes are done and never became a shipping product.
Thanks for saving me the trouble for downloading this PoC. I can't believe they have PICs and not Atmel, what were they thinking? The time it would take to match inventory to footprints dictates this will be a failure. On the other hand, if Mouser just added the ability for people to upload public eagle library entries for parts (and for them to be peer reviewed) that might just work. But Eagle is owned by a competitor so I guess that is out.
