What tools do you use to test and debug your PIC/AVR circuits? I'm not interested in expensive stuff (AVR Dragon @ $50 is fine).

I'm interested in simulators and JTAG/USB/OCD debuggers, or anything I haven't considered from the point of view of a hobbyist.

I'm also interested in IDE's and debugger integration.

How do I connect a power supply to this JDM2 circuit so it can use negative ground voltage to reach 13 volts on the Vpp pin?

How do you connect the bottom GND pin to a power supply, one connection?

Can I use Seeed's power supply?

USB Infrared Toy / IR Protocol & TX
I've read the following statements:

"Raw IR IO mode receives, transmits, and clones IR signals"

"RC5 and RC5x are currently the only supported remote control protocols."

Does RC5-only decoding support has any bearing on the transmission of IR signals?

Can I send codes using other protocols in IRIO or Raw mode?

In other words, does the IRToy have a Raw mode that allows you to shape the IR waveform to be transmitted from known/decoded address/command bits, and not be limited to RC5?

1) I'm thinking of practical ways of turning breadboard circuits into finished products, what alternatives are there besides custom PCB's?

I've seen people enclosing their circuits in some kind of resin or glue. Finding the right case is not an easy task, so I was thinking about submerging the circuit in some kind of plastic resin.

2) And what's the best prototyping board for soldering the components on, a perforated board with copper only around the through-holes?

I suppose it would be easier if these boards came with a trace pattern similar to that of a breadboard.

For those folks that have interfaced the IR Toy with automation software, what software are you using?

How would you interface it with software like AutoHotkey or Girder?
