Sick of trying to figure out which pins are used by some obscure Arduino shield? Can't tell whether two shields will be compatible with each other?

Play Bluetooth with Arduino

First , put the BT shield stand on Arduino board – the BT shield has a serial port Bluetooth module (Slave) on it. The BT shield have 3 pins connect with Arduino board : State , RX and TX. With the State LED and State pin, we can get the connection status of the BT shield , when the Bluetooth serial port channel is not build , the State LED will alternating light and off , and if the serial port is opened , the State LED will be on. The State pin will be the same mode as the LED .

Quote
Here we make a example how to use the Arduino with the Bluetooth module to send data to PC.

In this code , we use the interrupt to check the State pin, if the state pin level from high to low , then we consider that the module still in the standby mode, so wait for connecting. If the State pin maintain more than one second of high level, we consider that the Bluetooth channel has build and we can sent the data to serial port.

nRF24L01 Demo Code for Arduino

Quote
Now we have a demo show how to use the Arduino controlling the nRF24L01 module , and you need two Arduino boards and two modules, one to transmit and the other receive. The connection of two part is the same but the different software.

The nRF24L01 module is worked at 3V voltage level , so the Arduino 5V pins may destroy it , so we need to add some resister to protect the module – using the 10K and the 15K resister to reduce the voltage is a usual method.

Connect the module pins to Arduino as below:

CS - D8 , CSN – D9 , SCK – D10 , MOSI – D11 , MISO – D12 , IRQ – D13

Project development, ideas, and suggestions / Re: ITead Studio's OpenPCB (x10 PCB for $12)
Apparently someone from ITead is posting in Arduino forums (not verified):

Hi,
Thanks for your attention first.

Our webshop really just been around about 3 months

As we know, there are many similar studios set up recently -- because seeedstudio shows that this model is feasible
Why the PCB service exactly like Seeed's Fusion service? because we use the same prototyping factory - this factory is famous in electronic hobbyist circle of China.

Thanks
Alex

The Things you refer to always happen in consumer electronics market like cellphone,MP3 player , GPS and so on. But in the market of electronic components , because the products have not significant differentiation, so if use the same webshop platform you will find them like a copy-- Especially using the same template.

Learning and Imitating is the beginning of innovation , we encourage innovation, we provide the high cost-effective platform and module accessories to hobbyist for learning and creating.
We are busy with several custom projects this month - like Computer POST Diagnostic Card. After that you will see many new products that designed by ourself except clones purchased from electronic market

Project development, ideas, and suggestions / Re: ITead Studio's OpenPCB (x10 PCB for $12)
Futurlec's quote form was used to compare against ITead's offer, people should always ask for a quote when the time comes for their specific needs (including shipping).

The question is if ITead uses the same fab as Seeed, then you probably can expect similar choices, and/or cheaper price.

Arduino / Re: Pinguino (PIC MCU)
FreeJALduino 5

http://sites.google.com/site/funlw65/electronics/jaluino-pinguino-28-pins-starting-bo/freejalduino-5

Quote
This is an improved design and the last for 18F2550 microcontroller. The board is ready to use SPI and I2C Arduino shields, both in software mode. The Arduino compatibility is better than for my first board but the board is also bigger than previous one.

It can be programmed with JAL language, Pinguino IDE ... and any other language which support USB access ...

Features:

- Arduino connectors,  and this time, [Digital 13] pin is available.
- A supplementary connector to overcome 100millis problem on shields connectors.
- 5Vcc regulator on board.
- 3.3Vcc regulator on board.
- Shields can be powered directly from USB (I don't recommend that and I'm not responsible for any damage your board can do to your PC or whatever) or from external power, which can be set from green jumper.
- Green LED for power indicator (both USB and external source).
- Red LED which can be connected (via blue jumper) to [Digital 13] pin (Arduino compatibility) or [Digital 2] pin (RA4 - Pinguino compatibility), or, jumper can be removed to let the LED disconnected. The red LED can be used for "Blink a LED" test, without the need of external components or breadboard. Also, it can be used as bootloader indicator.
- USB full speed, direct connection (USB cable A to B - use a printer USB cable).
- PIC18F2550 controller, 32Kb of Flash program memory, 2Kb of RAM, 256bytes EEPROM, 19 available digital input/outpus, from which 10 of them can be analog inputs, etc. (see the datasheet).
- RESET push-button.
- ICSP connector, compatible to Pickit2 programmer.
- DC connector for 7Vcc to 12Vcc (recommended, but can be a maximum of... see LM7805 limits).
- 20MHz crystal (the board can be internally clocked at 48MHz resulting a 12MIPS speed).

Arduino / OBDuino & OBDuinoInterface
OBDuino

http://code.google.com/p/opengauge/wiki/OBDuino

Quote
The OBDuino is an in-car real-time display of various information, like speed, RPM, instant fuel consumption or average trip fuel consumption as well as others PIDs supported by the car.

Details

... It is based on an Atmel AVR ATMEGA168P chip that contains 16K of flash, 1K of RAM and 512bytes of EEPROM, an LCD display, 3 buttons, a few $ of electronics components.

The OBDuino connects to the car on its OBD-II plug ... A lot of signals are on this plug as well as battery voltage and ground. Using a standard OBD-II to DB9F cable brings us what we need.

The interface to the car is made with either a Freescale MC33290 for ISO only, a Microchip 2515 for CAN only, or an ELM327 (a third-party pre-programmed PIC) that talks PWM/VPW/ISO/CAN ...

OBDuinoInterface

http://code.google.com/p/opengauge/wiki/OBDuinoInterface

Quote
You cannot directly connect pins from the OBD-II plug to the Arduino board. You need a small interface that convert the signal ...

For all cases: The Arduino is powered by the 12V line coming from the cable too so you need to bring some wires from the DB9M to the Arduino like this:

Arduino 12V input ------------------ DB9M pin 9 (12V Battery)
Arduino GND input ------------------ DB9M pin 2 (Chassis Ground)

Arduino / PIC Based Arduinos
Pinguino

Quote
Pinguino is an Arduino-like board based on a PIC Microcontroller. The goal of this project is to build an integrated IDE easy to use on LINUX, WINDOWS and MAC OS X ... One of its inconveniences are a no native USB interface on the chip and its code length.

The IDE of Pinguino is built with Python. An integrated preprocessor translates specific Arduino instructions directly into C ... Pinguino hardware is based on a 18F2550. This chip has an integrated native USB module and an UART for serial link.

Finally the Pinguino IDE is a stand alone application with a C compiler (SDCC), assembler and linker (GPUTILS) and a bootloader based on the PUF VASCO project.

Arduino / PaperTeclado (PaperKeyboard)
PaperTeclado  (in Spanish, click British flag for Google translation)

http://txapuzas.blogspot.com/2009/12/paperteclado-un-teclado-con-una-hoja.html

You can create a keypad/keyboard using Inkjet printer, paper, tape, and some cables.

Strips made of ink are slightly conductive, as the length of the strip increases, the resistance increases, and as the width of the ink strip decreases, the resistance decreases.

Two ink strips can act as a voltage divider, and when pressing one against the other, the value of the voltage divider changes. Looking at this value you can determine which button was pressed.
