General discussion / Big Box Of Parts U.S.A. Only
Hi everyone,

It's Time to start a U.S. only box of parts. Same rules as before.

Rules:
- Take the parts out you can really can use.
- Replace them with parts you can't use (please add an equal amount of stuff)
- Send the box to the next person within a week.
- post a picture of what you got out of it and a small description what you are planning to do with
- No address information in this topic Please use the PM system for this

This will be a large flat rate priority mail box and will cost around $16 to ship.
Here's a quick look into some of the highlights in the box:

Lcd displays 16x2, VFD displays 20x2, LED display(500+ leds), stepper motors, cpld, fpga, memory, switches, connectors, and alot more. A lot of the stuff is pulls from old boards, printers, signs, radios.
Recycle and reuse is the motto.

The box will ship out on AUG the 27 Monday morning.

Who wants to be part of this chain?

Project logs / Re: A/C Energy Saver
I like your design, I would add blue tooth so that I can change the settings via my phone and put it in a clear thermostat case mounted on the wall as art and function. I'll wait for the files and see if I can think of some more stuff to add to it to make it my own.
Great idea.

This is nice. Replace that old thermostat with this and you could read in the dark from about five feet away, just change the red leds to white  and bingo there you go. :) I want one just for the leds.

Sick of Beige / Re: ATX case
The back side is glued to the top, bottom and sides. The psu slides in from the front only the front comes off and the blocks are attached to the front cover

I plan on changing the way the connector sits on the board and sending it to the board house. I can solder a straight through connector on from the back or just change the pinout on the psu connector.

There's plenty of holes in the front cover just put some spacers between the board and cover. If not I can always put some vents on the side's need be.

Here's a layout for a case for your power supply and atx board.

Layout for laser cutter.

The atx board attaches to the front cover with holes for all the connectors.

The mounting holes for the power supply are set for the location on my psu, but should work for all.

I keep a tube of that stuff around the house all the time. #16 is great when you need to plug up a hole in a fish tank. that and a little acrylic shavings from a file and you could make a paste to fill cracks.

Actually the third column is just extra just in case I break the thin acrylic and I just happen to have a piece laying around that is 3 x 250 x 250mm. You can use 6mm or 1/4" acrylic it all depends on what you have on hand or your cost at the acrylic shop you use.
The less joints you have the better. When it comes to weld-on #4 that stuff runs like water and will burn or stain the surface of your nice clear acrylic, I've had it happen many times until I got good at it.
