General discussion / Re: Big Box Of Parts U.S.A. Only
If you have to take out one or two of the big displays it's ok, they take up the most room. I had the same problem with the first ftdi I just removed it and cleaned the pads and put it back by hand and it work. So what do you plan to do with the stuff you got?

sqkybeaver,

I don't know how your going to fit all your stuff in the box. I know I didn't box the stuff as well as it could have been. And if you could let me in on how you fixed the ftdi friends. I think I removed the ftdi and re-soldered it and that took care of it. I still have 3 more laying around some where that need fixing. made a batch of 10 to give away but my reflow oven didn't do a good job of reflowing the paste. I think the 7 seg display has the wrong 7 seg cc instead of ca so it might not work I can't remember it's been a while.

Had to fix two missing gnd's.

I added all the files that I had to use to get this thing to work. I stopped using this because the oven I was using didn't get up to temp quick enough, it would take 6min to reflow.Way to long. But the board works like it is suppose to after the trace fix.

Sick of Beige / Re: ATX case
I use to have a HP 3310a just like yours. I have some black acrylic but I decided to go with the clear just to keep with the whole theme of seeing what you built. Back in the 80's I had a man cave a 14'x 12' shed with A/C, Electricity and then came Andrew Hurricane Andrew Aug 24 1992 and it was all gone. All my ham gear, Tektronics scopes and HP meters, function generator all gone. most of the gear was military surplus couldn't afford the new stuff. You have a nice setup makes me want to start getting a nice bench going again. I have been using the bench at work all this time.

Here are the results of the drawings.

Nylon screws hold the board on to the front cover.

IMG_1510 by systems tech, on Flickr

I haven't drilled the screw holes for the cover yet.

IMG_1512 by systems tech, on Flickr

Waiting for the atx connector to arrive (straight not right angle).

IMG_1509 by systems tech, on Flickr

Have to drill out the holes for the banana post there a little to small and wont let the board lay flat on the cover.

IMG_1507 by systems tech, on Flickr

Cut the opening under the power plug to low.

IMG_1511 by systems tech, on Flickr

As you can see the hole does not match-up.

I think it will still look good on the bench. What do you think?

General discussion / Re: New York City electronics tour
This is the list of hacker spaces in New York. Maybe visit one of the smaller ones and give them some publicity, Help them grow in away. You never know they might be working on transparent aluminium. Wich one would you pick? Or wich one have you been to?

Bus Pirate Support / Re: Driving 4" character display with the Bus Pirate, help!
From what they say the spec is "Connection Method 74HC595 in series, SPI like interface" I believe that spi is clock, data, latch, vcc, gnd. But go ahead and connect clock and data. the 12v should only go to the display and you might have to connect a comm gnd or both gnds together. Be careful what you measure with the bus pirate I think I read some where that it only reads up to +6v.

Have fun

here is the list so far 1.sqkybeaver, 2.schazamp. Some time next week after sqkybeaver gets his box and gets his goodies out then schazamp should PM sqkybeaver his address. Hopefully we can keep this thing going all around the USA.
