AVRDude / STK500 v2 AVR clone firmware marked as deprecated ??
I want to use my bus pirate as a STK500.  The current bus pirate firmware is too slow to use for ISP programming cause I want to run a bunch of tests.  I went to download the alternate firmware and it is marked as deprecated .  What's up with that ?  I did see where some patches have been submitted to increase the speed, but I didnt want to go through patching avrdude, BP firmware, compile, etc.  Can I use this alternate firmware with my Bus pirate ?
Thanks
Randy Perkins

This file has been deprecated. Another file would probably be better. Do you want to continue?

note I was able to download the alternate firmware and it includes 3 pre-compiled files

Open Bench Logic Sniffer / solved- Device not seen in computer after upgrading
Hello
I had properly got my Logic Sniffer updated and had tested it.  However I was working on giving back a couple issues I had found with the ols-upgrader.sh and was running it over and over, sometimes stopping it with CTRL-C.  Well now when I plug in the USB to the computer nothing comes up when I type lsusb or dmesg or tail -f var log syslog

I'm thinking the boot firmware in the pic needs reloaded ?  I dont have a bus pirate but I have an Arduino uno and a USBASP programmer.  I was gonna ask if I can program the pic in the logic sniffer with one of those, but after looking around , I dont think so.
I also have a kit that is a pic programmer.  It was on a site with a price of 0.00 that I ordered a power supply from.  The description is  KIT 119   SERIAL PIC PROGRAMMER 8,18,28,  On the kit it says P16pro 8 or 18 pin pic programmer.  Oh wait it looks like you have to remove the pic from a DIP to program it .  I doubt that will work either.  the kit was made by kits r us dot youknowwhat. Looks like the main man passed away .  Sorry to hear that.  This thing is parallel port.  I do have a parrallel to usb adapter that works in linux.

Well if you can point me in the right direction it would be great.  I waited 3 weeks for my sniffer and was having lots of fun.  Not sure if I messed it up testing out my script, but it quit soon after that.

thanks, rperkins

ps. man this spam filter is tough.  but I understand

Open Bench Logic Sniffer / small patch for ols-upgrader.sh
Hello
I just got my Logic Sniffer and had some problems with the RLE.  I am only using one channel of serial data.  The RLE would work if I turned on all 4 groups of channels.  I had read a post about a similar issue so I tried to find out what version of firmware was on the FPGA.  All I could come up with was that I needed to terminal into the device and send a hex command.  Another post said to just update it.  So that is what I did.

I am running Ubuntu Linux 11.10 on a 64 bit processor and downloaded ols-0308-expert.tgz .  Tried to put complete path to download but the forum says ' I am to spammy for a newcomer ' :)

Was attempting to use the file ols-upgrader.sh from to upgrade my unit.  Had 2 issues in the script.  Had 2 user errors.  This patch fixed them.  Well at least until I was running the script over and over to test out this patch .  see next post  :(
