Hi, I'm using the Toy with windows 7 64bit and WinLirc. everytime I start the PC the Toy is not working and WinLirc complains. I simply remove the Toy from the pc an reatach it. Now WinLirc is working and also the Toy. After a Reboot the Toy works smoothly, but when the PC is off for a longer time, the Problem comes up..
interessting. My MB provides power, even if the pc is shut down. so extra Powering over the ATX isnt necessary. As far as is understand the last posts, is to update the firmware so that an IR code is stored in the Toy on which the Toy will react and send a Signal over USB to Power the PC on. right?
Some modern mainboards have the oppertunity to turn a PC on by USB. Therefore USB power supliy (5V) is needed while the PC is off. This can mostly be done by jumper settings. My mainboard supports that feature and i will try it, if it works with the USB IR Toy. Hopefully it will :)
I Have a USB IR Toy v2 and its working great for over half a year. i'm realy excited about this!
But now I'm wondering if it is possible to turn a PC on, if it is completely shut down? Have some Guys of you already figured that out? Can it be done by Wake on USB?
Thank's for this large answer, but im looking for a 'Yes' or 'No' for my question. Can I use the mentioned LCD? I just want to back up, because I'm a noob :)
Because my htpc is running in my home cinema/living room, it is ok, that the display has a medium brightness. To much light isnt good either.
I am new to this forum and this is my first Post. I apologize for my bad english, i'm from Germany und english is not my native language.
I'm watching Dangerous Prototypes for a while and already have a USB IR Toy and ih very happy with it :) I already managed to control my HTPC and everything in my living room with a remote and the USB IR Toy.
But now i want to enhance my HTPC with a 4*20 LCD. I think a USB serial LCD backpack is a good and easy choice. My question is now, which LCD should I buy. Does the LCD 20*4 Characters - White back light from SeedStudio fit the USB serial LCD backpack? Sorry, due to new user status i can not provide the direct link to it. You will find it by search or Display&Touch > LCD > LCD 20*4 Characters - White back light
