Project logs / Free PCB Build: Bus Pirate v3.8
Hi,
I finally managed to get all parts for the Bus Pirate v3.8 and also got some spare time to assemble it.
The Micro USB connector was a little bit tricky to solder, because the pins are hidden beneath the housing. But with a fine soldering tip and some solder wick I got the solder where it belongs.
BTW, the connector I used is Digi-Key 609-4613-1-ND.

Oh, and I should have used low current LEDs, they are a little dim. I will probably exchange them the next time I order some parts.

Thanks again for the free PCB. Definately a useable tool!
Keep on hacking!

Regards,

Project logs / Free PCB Build: XT-IDE
Hi,
I just finished the build of a free XT-IDE (v1b) adapter. I want to use it to replace the broken XT (8-bit) disk of an old Schneider Euro XT computer with an ordinary IDE disk.
XT harddisks are impossible to get nowadays.

Thanks for the free PCB! :-)

Breakout boards / Cortex M3/M0 Breakout Board Free PCB Build
Hi,
I just finished my free Cortex M3 Breakout Board using an NXP LPC1343.
Running at up to 72 MHz this has quite some power for such a tiny uC.
I think I'll hook up some glue logic and convert it to a CoLinkEx Jtag-Debugger to be able to debug even bigger controllers. :-)
Thanks for the free PCB!

Have you check your gerber? If via is covered by the solder mask or not is defined in your gerber.[/quote]
Yes, gerber files are OK. This occured not on every PCB of the batch and not always at the same vias. Some PCBs are 100% good, but most PCBs have some vias not covered. Fortunately this was not a problem for this design.

General discussion / Re: Cheap PCB manufacturing timelines
Hi,

I also have ordered some PCBs from Seeds Fusion Service. They are 50 x 40 mm in size.
All Vias should have been covered by the stop mask, but some vias are not covered.
Also there are quite some off-center drilled vias. E.g. the one in the middle of IC1 or the one at pin 7.

However all PCBs work for me, so far all vias have contact and I have not seen shorts.
