Tools of the trade / Re: High speed Pick & Place for $3600
Interesting, but I hope they spend more on their machine than they do on their translators! Sure their English is a lot better than my Chinese, but it makes me wonder how it would be working through the details with software that is written in Chinglish or Englese.

Hi Doug, welcome to DP (AU here also). I'd be surprised if the Chinese aren't already working on one with Vision, but I think the controller that will likely be the thing that will show up the limitations. Good to hear it's gone well for your needs.

General discussion / Re: VGA given 5 years to live
Brian has it right, VGA will still be around for many many years to come, it's just that it will become gradually less and less popular. It certainly won't vanish all of a sudden in 4 years. They told us 20 years ago RS232 was dead, but I can tell you it's still used all over the world in industry, despite all the fancy new comms systems. Yes it's less common, but it's certainly still around, no question at all about that.
As for how people will handle it, well I guess that will depend on the people. Some will stick with the old, some will move to the new. For me the RPi would be a lot more useful if it had VGA, so it could be used with the piles of old VGA monitors laying around the world, rather than having to go and waste money (and resources) on a HDMI monitor, but then there is other boards that still have VGA output. More than likely it will be a bit like that for years to come.

CPLD programmable logic / Re: CPLD as a configurable switch
If you are interested in the switch rather than the CPLD, then I'd suggest using an actual crosspoint matrix switch, something like the ADV3205JSTZ, but there are various ones around. That's a 16 x 16 at 60MHz, but you can get them in various configurations. Data attached.

I just used Bing translate from Auto (Chinese) to Danish and it worked fine. You still get lots of the Chinese writing, but I get that with conversions to English when on taobao anyway. I notice it still translates to 'baby' which I think is the item /package/whatever.
Interesting that that have two lots of reels running at right angles.  No LCD like the other ones, but probably don't need it anyway, as it's all done on the PC.
