Open Bench Logic Sniffer / ols-loader v0.4 for OSX
ols-loader v0.4 for OSX

And here is an OSX build.  Based on current svn (1/13/2011).  10.6 only.  Though I can make it work on 10.5, it requires changes to termios handling in the source and will not run beyond 115200 baud.

If anyone truly needs Leopard support, they can contact me directly for details.

Open Bench Logic Sniffer / Re: Scans intermittently show only zero
I have a big shit eating grin on my face again!!!  A firmware update to 2.3, followed by a flash erase & update and have a functioning OLS again.

I haven't had a change to test to fix to the issue that started this thread but will try later tonight.

I learned a few things that are not real clear to an OLS noob like me.  Would it be ok if I added some comments to the wiki?

I think I am going spend some time testing the tool chain on OSX, what works, what doesn't, see if I can fix what doesn't.

Thanks Jack & Ian for a great tool and toy!!

Ok, I moved into the frustration zone now.  Trying to use the tools from this post: http://dangerousprototypes.com/forum/in ... pic=1443.0 which is referenced from the wiki, the OSX builds error with this:

[Hadron:~/Downloads/ols-loader_OSX] alan% ./ols-loader_OSX_x64 -p:/dev/tty.usbmodem3d11 -status
Logic Sniffer ROM loader v0.2 (September 10, 2010)
Opening serial port '/dev/tty.usbmodem3d11' @ 921600 ... OK
Found OLS HW: 1, FW: 2.2, Boot: 2
Error - unknown flash type (ef 30 13 00)

Upon looking at the source, I see that this is indeed the code for the WinBond chip this board has.  I built a local copy of ols-loader to try and debug, and low and behold the locally built copy runs ok.

I uploaded the Logic_Sniffer_dynamic_depth.mcs bitstream and had no errors reported, all pages OK.  Upon reset, it thought about running but then fell into program mode again(and again, and again,...).  So now my board is wedged with the 'ACT' light solid on and unresponsive to anything but the ols-loader.

If I recall there was mention on the wiki that if the bitstream can't load this will happen .... true?

I read the flash back out into another file and compared it to the bitstream, not even close (do know if they should be).

I tried the whole process in windows (via VMware) and had no happiness there as well (of course that could be operator error:)

I'm out of idea's, guidance please!!

I'm confused then, all of the download packages listed as 'production/stable' have bitstream names like 'Logic_Sniffer_XXkXXbit'.  The TestRelease2.12 has the dynamic bitstream but it is listed 'Working but not well tested'  which leads me to believe it is not quite ready for prime time.

I am on OSX so I cannot use the windows installer.  Is this: "Logic_Sniffer_dynamic_depth.mcs" from the TestRelease2.12 what I should use?

Open Bench Logic Sniffer / UART communication with OLS
Are the uart connection points active by default or would that require a change to the firmware?  I have a spare serial to ethernet board that I would like to setup to use the OLS remotely.

Open Bench Logic Sniffer / Re: Scans intermittently show only zero
Oh this is good news, I too just got a board and I am seeing the same problem.

Is it the case that I still must specify a different bitstream for different memory configurations? i.e. if I only want 16 channels, use the Logic_Sniffer_8k16bit.mcs bitstream?

If I do load a lower channel bitstream, how does this react with the client when specifying channel groups?  If I have the 8 channel bitstream, does it matter what I select for channel groups?

thanks
