Hardware biz / Re: Commercial maker options - Maker Faire Bay Area 2013
From what I've heard they are changing/enforcing how Makerfaire treats the companies displaying at the show. Note that commercial maker is defined as an individual, companies and corporations are treated as sponsors. So if you are a registered company and have a place of business then you need to pay sponsor fees to get a 10x10 booth which is not anywhere near $325.

General discussion / Re: One more PCB fab house
Nice Find!

I'll try them out. I sent them an email asking when is the last day I can order and still ship out before the spring festival. I have some files ready for them.

Tools of the trade / Re: Solder pot
I have a 110v version of your first link. They are a bit more expensive than the 220v. Search some more you'll find one.

Those pots are fine if you are just tinning wires but if you want to use it on through hole parts then either get one with a temp read out or a good thermometer. You will be scraping dross all the time if the temp is too high and will get blobs if its too low.

I have mine in storage after 2 uses.

Tools of the trade / Re: High speed Pick & Place for $3600
Thanks for all the info. I want in too. Like Digistump mentioned. Ok to ship to a US location then to me or to me directly.

Spending too much time hand placing small run prototypes.

To make this sweeter, can somebody find a desktop sized wave solder machine or better yet a selective wave solder on the cheap for the through hole parts.

Here's its bigger brother the TM240A being used and described by a certain Mr. Chen as interviewed by Zack Hoeken in China.

From Zack's blog. http://http://www.hoektronics.com/2013/01/05/meet-a-shenzhen-maker-mr-chen/

General discussion / Re: ITead PCB Woes
Same here.

2 out of 12 PCBs from Itead have open traces.

Last order from Seeedstudio the pads on the PCBs lift off easily on fine pitched ICs when doing solder drag. Replaced with boards from local board house and everything was aok.

General discussion / Re: Eagle or DipTrace
Not much love for Diptrace around here?

I've been using Diptrace since 2008. I find it way easier to use than Eagle, Design spark and others I tried. It may not have as much community support and features as Eagle but its getting there. It can import Eagle files and libraries, DXFs and others. Has 3D but view only, no IGES/STP export yet.

Give it a try and it might just be your cup of tea. Ease of use is its #1 strength.

Project logs / Re: PSoC3 Custom Board
First time I saw this post. This is very exciting as I was thinking of making my own too but this is would be perfect. Pretty new to PSOC3. If you are interested I have a couple of the 100pin CY8C3245AXI-166 that I can spare in case you are planning to use that package as you move forward. I have the a couple of dev boards and samples that I got for free from my supplier and Im just not going to use that $100 board with the experiments that we are used to. This custom board would fit the bill.
