The indentation is mangled in the svn copy causing the script to break. Cutting and pasting from the original post gives a clue as to why since it uses a mixture of tabs and spaces (very bad).

Even with the correctly indented version, this crashes Python in OSX 10.6 with "Trace/BPT trap"
