USB Infrared Toy / Re: IRToy stops working after pc resumes from standby
I think I found a workaround. I ditched WinLIRC and its IRToy plugin and now I'm using EventGhost with its IRMan driver and I haven't faced this issue. One can hope this solves the problem :)

If anyone wants to narrow down the problem, there are a few things that could be tried:
 • Delay WinLIRC initialization
 • IRMan driver with WinLIRC
 • Debug the initialization phase

EDIT: a month later, the toy is perfect with IRMan, I've had zero problems since.
I am having a similar problem, except with restarts.  When the computer restarts (which I can't avoid forever because of updates), IRToy will stop working ("WinLRC failed to initialize") and show an orange LED until I unplug it and plug it back in.  Does the new beta firmware 23 fix it?  I'm at a loss, this is a huge hindrance to functionality since it's integral to my automation system which is supposed to be hands-off.
I just switched to IRToy v1 and I'm having the same problem. I noticed the device manager says there's an unknown device and if I see the events of the device, there's this:
Code: [Select]
Device USBVID_0000&PID_00025&385a3465&0&2 had a problem starting.

Driver Name: null
Class GUID: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
Service:
Lower Filters:
Upper Filters:
Problem: 0x2B
Status: 0x0

EDIT: sometimes there's the LED and sometimes not.. So, a race condition?
EDIT2: I mean to say this happens for me even if I just shutdown my computer and start it the next day. Not always, but some times.

USB Infrared Toy / Re: TX features
Yeah, I think it's because of lacking power. Checked the transmitter with a camera and the IR barely shows even at 10cm whereas my Logitech universal remote shows huge dots on the screen.

Try to make the distance a little closer, I tested mine at 1 meter and it still working.
Tried - no luck. Neither with IRToy v0.6 nor WinLIRC. Both replay something, but the receiver just doesn't reply. Also I tried recording a signal from the original and a universal remote.

Well, I tried with my TV too - the same thing. Only the orange led turns on and the TV doesn't do anything.

3 meters is probably over the limit for the current IR Toy hardware. replacing R4 with a 22ohm resistor will increase it drastically. I'm happy to do that mod for you.
Ah, I bought IR Toy so I could really make use of it by commanding my TV, receiver etc from the computer. How should we proceed with this modding? I'm not too good at soldering small components myself.

I'm really sorry about the issues with the IR Toy, and also the aggressive spam measures. I just installed them now. We got hit with 2000+ spam registrations in the last day.
Oh, that's not very nice..
How far are you trying to transmit? The IR Toy range is really short, but I'd be happy to mod it for you.
3 meters and there are no huge obstacles between. Altho, I'm positively surprised about the receiver led since it's receiving the signals even if I hide the remote behind objects.

USB Infrared Toy / TX features
Hello,

I got my USB IR Toy today. First it didn't work, but after updating the firmware, it came to life. I can say that it's possible to update the firmware from Windows 7 box using XP mode at least. I was afraid of testing directly it, because of the warnings in the wiki, but I don't really see why it wouldn't work.

Ok, but then the real problem: Using WinLIRC to repeat the signal I recorded doesn't seem to work properly. A signal is sent I guess, because of the orange light, but the receiver doesn't register it. I tried with IRToyRecPlay too - the same. Also tried with EventGhost, but it won't even blink the light. Receiving works fine with all the methods.

Otherwise the toy looks promising.

PS. I finally made it to the forums. It seems my old account was banned because of spam? Now I tried registering and first I didn't receive the confirmation email, because of my mail provider sucking. Then I tried re-registering with an another email, it told me I couldn't register, because I was already registered from this IP. Well, then I tunneled myself thru an another box and then the security question was like "What's nine plus three" and according to the forum it's 11.
