Project logs / Re: Really universal soldering controller
Any suggestions what encoder to buy for the 5.2c?
I have seen images of EC11 but which model is best to select.

Trying at random seems expensive since I can buy these in a Pack of 5, genuinely made in Japan ALPS.
Some models are in the price range of €6 - €22 each. The high end is classified for army precision.

Can we make a list of supported encoders please with model numbers or Specs required?

Thanks
Tronix

His box is FULL of wires

This is disappointing what a mess, this guy looked as if he knows what he was doing, having said that I like his idea and I believe there is an easier way to do this, can this be done using MOSFETs?

Also re wires from iron, they all have to be isolated?

Is it possible that the switching be done with fewer wires which will have the end result of common wires between JBC models?

My journey to find the best case ideas still makes me find stuff that is not even in my language.
This time I found a guy from RUSSIA which did a switching iron using relays with an extra Attiny13 to control switching.

In his example, he demonstrates switching between C245. C210, JBC AM120-A & DR560-A using 8 relays (2 relays per each Iron)

I happen to have these 24v relays and I am tempted to try this but how safe will this be.
Anyone in here ever tried this or have a better approach to eliminate the use of relays?

I forget to mention this is running on Unisolder 5.2 inside a real JBC Case (Jbc hd-2b).
At some point he manages to get it 500c I hope that is a Bug, maybe I have good reason to remain swap iron manually with cable.

So he is not so lucky after all. ;)

Haha yeah, so you were his angel and prevented his board from going almost RIP, Nice Job There.
I understand that mistakes happen but on a project like this extra care should be taken when messing with polarized items you cannot always depend on PCB designer after taught.

When crimp any ribbon cables always check if pins match and there is no short especially if you have no good tools and maybe using a vice. In this case, it is 10P so not hard but still, I would check.

Something else I would never, solder wires direct to the PCB is just a bad idea. Use either header or design a small PCB template to fit the front screen, I know it is extra work but I suffer from OCD and it is hard for me not to point this out. 8)

Sparky I tried to order 5.2c and found a small issue.
Would it be possible to have a special back that includes the OLED, please?

Any help on this Sparky, please?
I tried to do it using CAM350 however I did not like the modified Gerber files

If I had Altium files, all I would do is open FULLPCB and Remove FRONT from panelized, but since files are not shared I need to ask to have it done correctly and can rest my mind that I will not get faulty PCB.

If what I am asking is not possible I will understand and I will find another solution with what you shared.
