ian send me the new v4 LCD adapter PCB on Monday so when i arrived on Tuesday i build it up. I didn't have the right potentiometer for the backlit so i used a slightly large value one but that shouldn't be an issue.
[attachment=2] [attachment=1] The most work will be the Firmware for the Bus Pirate v4 so it can drive the display directly without the 74HCT595.
I have build another Free PCB, this time its a CPLD breakout board with a Altera EPM3064A.
[attachment=0] I was working on this PCB when the XT-IDE adapter v2 PCB was delivered so this one was on hold until today viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2657&start=300
Fram's are a nice piece of technology but for our purposes way overkill, we don't need to write to the eeprom that often.
If its cheaper and it works its nice.
I always remembered that the words stock and Ramtron don't go together well ;) because it took them only half a year to send me a sample of the FM18W08 and Farnell always have low stock of them.
The socket and the PLCC EEPROM have the same footprint so using a socket is optional.
Using flash haves the problem that i cant be used with the current pc software because it uses a different programming algorithm. So if you want to use a flash part now we need new pc software or program it before its soldered to the board.
The main issue is that you cant program it off board without re soldering. And the other issue is that the SOIC version is more expensive and hard to get from Farnell (you pay €25 extra on shipping because its US stock)
