I installed the JRE manually in c:Program files and it worked like acharm. Earlier it was installed in c:Program files (x86). Im not sure if this was the issue. Anyways thanks for your suggestion which helped me.
I recently migrated to windows 7 after being used my OLS on Vista for quite some time. Now i m facing some issues with the lates Jawis client ols-0.9.6.1-full. I had a couple of problems after migrating to windows 7. 1. The OLS detection issue; as the CDC driver was not getting installed . I dowloaded the latest package from http://www.gadgetfactory.net/logicsniff ... r.Download and installed the driver. this resolved my first issue.
2. Secondly, the jawis client 0.9.4 works fine, however when i try to 'run' the 0.9.6.1 client the dos window pops up and vanishes instantly. The client doesnt seem to openup. The same worked fine on my Vista earlier. Is there any known issue with this version of the client on Windows 7 ? or am i missing something.
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. So do u mean the GND pins on the OBLS do not need to be soldered to the connector, connecting the wing buffer(as its gnd thru other pins as u mentioned)?
The IC1(PIC18F24J50) and IC3 (fpga) becomes v hot. In fact i am not able to use the wing buffer, i tried couple of times, and failed to capture any signals. Since im currently using only 16 pins so didnt bother too much on the buffer wing pins.
Thanks for the reply, I was doing some analysis and found out that the OLS is getting heated due to the input buffer wing when connected. The OLS works cool when the input buffer wing is not hooked up. I have attached the pics of my connectors soldered to the buffer wing and the OLS. The weird thing is i coudnt know how to connect the GND pins of the buffer wing to the OLS, there is a GND pin on the wing buffer however there is no corresponding pin on the OLS, so these GND pins are always open as shown in the fig as marked with blue circle. Not sure if this is the problem. Please see my pic and comment if any anamaolies.
I've been using the OLS for quite sometime now, i observe that the OLS becomes too hot after sometime. Is this normal or my hardware has some issues. Note that the OLS is still functional.
Thanks arhi for your detailed steps, I appreciate it. Im getting lots of Bus errors on the client UI, however i know there are no errors and the device is working perfect.. I just suspect if my OLS firmware version could be old one.. how do i check the version of the OLS firmware.. Is there any 1to 1 version match required for the OLS firmware and the client software..
How do i check the version of OLS, what is the latest version and any links for it.
I was just wondering if i can use the OLS for analysing the 1-wire protocol (as i dont hv bus pirate), i see a menu option in the OLS client s/w. Any manual or docs on how to use as a protocol analyser.
Thanks for the reply. Is there a way to a place a pre-order for the input buffer so that i can get all my stuffs in one shipment. (logic sniffer, probes, buffer).
I would like to place the order for "16-bit Input Buffer Wing" along with the logic sniffer, When can i expect the input buffer in stock; as i would not want to place two different orders separately..
Sorry for the naive question, how do i connect the input buffer wing to the logic sniffer, .. Also I couldnt really understand on how can i use all 32 channels, as the connector can hook up only upto 16 channels (from the pic).. please clarify. Is there any documentation on this.
Thanks for the quick response. I think usually all TTLs are 3.3 v , correct me if am wrong. so this should not be a problem for me. What are the other accessories i need if i would want to use all the 32 channels. BTW what is the maximum speed i can capture?
