Bus Blaster JTAG debugger / Few genegral questions on Jtag and the Bus Blaster v3
Hello Guys,

I'm new to these forums and Jtaging in general.

My background so far:
I have been playing with a few routers trying to dump some data via Jtag.  These include include D-Link, Technicolor and Huawei devices. Now, as i am a beginner I have been toying with the Unbuffered cable via the LPT port and so far, although i have spent a good 30 hours on the subject i have been unable to get a single utility (brjtag, tjtag and a load of other variants) to  see any of my devices.    I have a professional background in IT and a lifetime love of basic electronics. Im also very confident in my soldering skills.

My hours of searching around have sent me full circles, and to rule out some of the variables I think i need to purchase a 'proper' device to go any further in this field.

I am hoping that someone would be so kind as to answer a few of my questions, point me in the right direction and point out where I am going wrong.

The Bus Blaster v3 has caught my eye and it is a reasonable price.

1)  Can I use this device to connect to most jtag devices of different brands.. i.e the three brands i mentioned earlier provided i know the correct Jtag pinouts. ?  Or do they have to have specific known chipsets?

2) Is this device capable of being used as a 'Jtag finder' i.e identifying or 'guessing' the correct Jtag pin outs as i have seen on a few other devices. ?

Grateful to anyone who can feed me some info, feel free to shoot me down if needs be, this is an interesting learning experience for me.

Thanks and i looks forward to reading your replies.
