DirtyPCBs support / Re: Are you paying DHL on receipt of your PCBs?
Here in Malaysia at least, FedEx doesn't charge a single cent on custom clearing. They do it automatically and have the courtesy to SMS the tax amount in the morning before shipment arrive in the afternoon. DHL and lousy UPS charge some few tens of RM. At times more than the tax, and had to be instructed to clear the custom for you.

Tools of the trade / Re: China DIY PNP Machine
That's what I envision. Using a market ready feeder rather than making one. Yamaha feeder is cheap and readily available either new or 2nd hand like RMB400. So, it could look like the oursmt machine at the end.

oursmt was the supplier of the SMT50 machine controller and software.

That's why I saw the SMT50 in one of the videos! The software looks familiar.

But, have you seen their newer machines that has feeders like those on expensive machine?

Tools of the trade / China DIY PNP Machine
Have been checking many machine for the past 1 year including a trip to Neodentech's factory in Hangzhou looking for a suitable affordable machine. As an avid Taobao frequent buyer, I stumbled upon other machine like Yushengtech and Boreytech just to name a few. But, I believe there's more than all these commercial desktop machine hidden somewhere in China waiting to be discovered. I just couldn't believe that with all the advancement in China, they don't have one do it yourself kinda machine, at least. So, I continue my search...

I started to see like parts and pieces of pick and places like motors, frames, pickup heads, and even good looking software. Further search using my non-Chinese capable skill set (you have to iterate your Taobao search by inserting some Chinese characters along the way to fine tune your results), I stumbled upon oursmt.com. I saw some of their parts being sold on Taobao and hopefully entered the domain "oursmt.com". I guess I found probably the first DIY pick and place machine in China that probably has some documentation.

The machine does like taking some industrial standard feeders in (or some imitation version of it, saw some at RMB100 for 8mm ones). And this particular machine has vision, maximum 30 feeders, uses aluminum extrusion, external pump, software runs on a PC (saw some video running on XP, sure rings some bell here, go figure). I'm not sure what other specification they have on the machine(s). And they are selling it for RMB8800 (~USD1350) without any feeders and without external pump. They are even selling them in batches (like group order), only 20 unit per time. But, the machine sure does look like a OpenPnP machine variation at a glance, how different can they be after all?

Has anyone came across this machine?
Probably it's time to get my butt back to China and look for them!

DirtyPCBs support / Re: Two Qs about Aluminium PCBs
Hi Ian,

Based on my experience being an agent for a local LED company that uses aluminium boards, they are usually freaking long. Short boards are rare usually. But, then you would have to factor in the shipping cost based on volumetric weight. And I guess airmail is out of question.

Tools of the trade / Re: Pick and Place TVM920, SMT460, Neoden4
Also I forgot to note the movement mechanism:
For TVM920: belt
For SMT460: belt
For Neoden4: screw
What about the vacuum pump? I know the Neoden 4 has an internal pump.
Having to buy a separate and have the space for it is a hassle.

Tools of the trade / Re: High speed Pick & Place for $3600
Have seen the machine personally while it was still a prototype. It looks very solid and a leap above the previous 3 generation.
In my personal view, it's a USD25-40K machine in the < USD10K price bracket.
That sums it up. Planning to get one but out of budget and justification right now. :(

Was lucky enough to catch it picking up 0402 parts and managed to catch a glimpse on the software. Software looks clean and not complicated. So, your photo is from their booth in SEG judging from their yellow table!

Really like the fact many good design aspect of the TM245P was brought over to this new machine.
Price is about 69/79/99 USD per pcs For feeder 12/16/24.
The good thing about this is the feeder is not fix. You only buy what you need. Along the way, if you need more, then only you add.

I think the new machine is not competing with any of the similar desktop machine, in fact is has venture into other larger machine territory. So, for that price it is still a bargain but probably not so cheap for smaller maker unless you are churning out few hundred boards a month at least.

Saw the very first prototype few months back in flesh!

In the near future Neoden will sell their quad head vision machine at >= 10000USD
I don't think it's nice to speculate the price of a yet to be released machine.

And personally, a competitive and affordable price for a pick and place machine plays an important role for people like us on the forum.

I'm also looking at the TM245P and SMT50. The differences between them that is apparent is the vision system, number of feeders, price (quite a difference!), automatic nozzle-changing and vibration feeders.

No way for TQFP and QFN chips Neoden can post some placement results to proof.
I'll be heading to their Shenzhen's office to check this out. Their machine build looks pretty solid to be frank.
And I hope I can take a look at Sunny's machine too in the same trip but have to check whether they have any office in Shenzhen as a start.

I really like the vibration feeder option on the TM245P and the number of feeders is just generous.
At the same time, SMT50, SMT600, and SMT550D has vision but very limited number of feeders and also smaller maximum PCB area.
I guess checking them out in real life will help me to decide.

First of all we are releasing our new SMT500D in January.

As I didn't see updates on your web until now, I searched on Taobao for your machine.
It is priced at Yuan 29502.00 which translate to USD4700. I believe it is the same machine.
Is there any reason for the price differences (international warranty, different quality made for international)?

Have anyone bought the newer version of the machine, TM245P?

It has more feeders, vibration feeders, faster, and tray support.
No vision still but they have a "correction" approach using a square looking guide thing at one corner.
But, more expensive than the TM240A unfortunately.
This is very tempting especially with the vibration feeders support (for us poor fags that can't afford a full reel of expensive IC).
