CPLD programmable logic / Re: CPLD as a configurable switch
Extremely late, but I was looking for the same functionality.  I haven't seen any implementations with the Coolrunner, but there is one for the Altera Max II CPLD.  Search on "Altera MAX II bidirectional matrix switch"

So it is certainly possible to use a CPLD as a dynamic matrix.    It's not a great fit, but considering the cost it works well for some projects
