It Is easier and faster to solder qfn/vqfp with an exposed pad than a ssop, just use this method http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-f-SBC0GrU with a good flux and iron.

General discussion / Soft latching switch
for a project i need to switch on and off a voltage supply (one cell lipo) using only one momentary push button.
i found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Foc9R0dC2iI but the problem is that if the user presses the button for a long period of time the output oscillates. Can someone point an IC that does this or a discrete circuit.

Still fighting setting the RTCC to fire an interrupt every 1 sec.

Project logs / Re: wrist watch
I have a working code for the lcd and i tried all the button and they work.
Now i'm fighting with the microchip library for the RTCC.
I was thinking of using the interrupt of the RTCC (every minute if i choose not to display the seconds)for wake up the pic and refresh the lcd.The pic can also exit the sleep state by pressing one of the button.
There is, until now, a problem with the design because i can't use the deep sleep of the pic because i don't have any button on the INT0 pin that is togheter with the RTCC interrupt the only way to wake up the pic so i can only go in normal sleep.
When i have a working code driven by only interrupt i will start the lcd design (clock font and various menus).

I had to cut a part of the usb port because it was impossible to solder.
The rgb led works, i have only tried with the usb as the power supply because i don't have a one cell lipo.
Mouser only had the 96x96 display in stock that has a mirror finish so the light from behind is blocked... when i have a working code of the lcd i will remove the led that is just used as debug.
Now the part that i hate... programming.
I will post some update as i develop the code.
PS: what can i use to remove the flux residue?

I'm a little busy this period, i will post some update at the end of september.
If the watch works at the end i will giveaway some boards because i have 12 of them...

At this stage the only way to disconnect the lipo is by connecting the usb port for charging.
In power down mode the board should consume very little power but right now i'm not 100% of how much it is i will prefer to read it with some tools like the http://www.eevblog.com/projects/ucurrent/ that i don't have :D

i used this method for solder the 3 IC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-f-SBC0GrU for the first time it seems good and the pickit read and program the pic without any problem.
And the pcb is two layer, very cheap from itead.

Yes i saw it but i think that the buttons and the led backlight are a must in a wrist watch and also is very difficult to design the entire board in that way.
My clock is 0.75 (lcd) + 1mm (back light led) + 0.6mm(PCB)+1.2(tallest compenent on the board) + 4mm (battery 4mm is the max) = 7.55 mm , if i make the case 1mm thick that is 9.55 mm of total height(?).
Sorry for the bad english :D

For the backlight i have a 90 deg rgb led on the other side of the board on the top edge, i hope that it will be enough.
The particular lipo charger that i'm using doesn't have a fuel gauge.
I haven't think a lot about the case but i will try to 3d print it if i find a cheap company
