After I finished the SOIC version (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2577), I continued with the SSOP one. As before, everything recycled or free sourced, except fot the FTDI chip.
Finally I have completed my free Bus Pirate built, must say that this is my first attempt to solder a complete smd circuit. It turned out to become almost completely free, all parts were recycled or free sourced (except for the FTDI).
3 hints in case your are missing some parts to complete yours:
-Found a lot of 4066s IC on old CD-ROM drives. -Old motherboards are a great place to get resistor networks. -That old cell phone wich died from drowning may donate the usb connector...
I'm using the QFP50 dangerous proto board as a reference design to test the precision of a proxxon mf-70 retrofitted micro CNC. I'm quite happy with the results!
Yesterday my free PCB arrived. The envelope and PCB came in perfect conditions. [attachment=3] After a couple of minutes looking for parts, found most of them, except for the IR receivers. I didn't had a narrow 28 DIP socket, so I took a wide one from an old network card and cutted the plastic bridge between both sides. A few other components are recycled, like the USB connector. [attachment=2] One hour later everything is soldered, time to write the bootloader. I'm using my cheap pickit2 clone (this one was programmed with a serial PIC writer wich Ian published in DIY life some time ago). [attachment=1][attachment=0] Everything went OK, later firmware was written and tested in serial console. Now I just need to find those IR receivers. Thanks Ian!
