Project logs / Re: PAW9 - MrRef
Made a very simple voltage reference using the max6350 2.5v and a 9v battery a couple of weeks ago.
My cheap multimeter is spot on, something I didn't expected.

In any case, I would rather have one of Matseng's boards : )

Project development, ideas, and suggestions / MMA7455L BOB free build
Got two PCBs from Ian some months ago, I was waiting to finnish building a reflow oven, and planned to use them as a test board.
Finally this weekend I got everything sorted out and did a first test. It wasn't a complete succes, one of the boards got shorted pins.
This is probably because I didn't use a stencil. In any case the bad board was later fixed using hot-air.

I'm using a DIY version of rocket scream's reflow oven controller. http://http://www.rocketscream.com/shop/reflow-oven-controller-shield-arduino-compatible
NOTE: I have six PCBs left, and I won't be using them...
Here's how things look at the moment,

The two populated boards were quickly tested using the bus pirate.

Project logs / Re: CNC Stepper Controller
Fantastic work!
I would happily change my current setup for something like your driver:

Only one suggestion, think of adding a fourth axis driver, I'm currently planning to add a divisor head to my small CNC for jewelry work, having everything on a single PCB would be really cool.

General discussion / Re: What homemade test gear have you built and still use?
I really enjoy building test gear and small electronic tools,
Here are some of them already published in the forum.

-The AVR transistor tester: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3260&start=15#p32204

-Pickit2: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2848#p28084

-LC Meter: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3260&start=120#p32725

-Superprobe: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=2751#p27032

ATM I'm working on a ESR meter, based on this design: http://kripton2035.free.fr/digital%20es ... ssian.html
, currently I have laid out the schematic and started to route the pcb.

General discussion / Re: Component Organizer (open source)
Why CO?
One of the reasons I decided to rewrite it was the fact of noticing that there are some cloud-based alternatives (partkeepr, arena partslist - not free nor os)
Hi msr, partkeepr is free and open source, the only downside it that you need a AMP server in order to use it, this could be in fact an advantage if you need to access your db from many computers, or if you work with a group of people.
To use it, I created a virtualbox linux server with partkeepr. I have been loading it with data for a couple of months now, I'm very happy with it.
My intention is not to discourage you, just clarify.
I haven't tried your app yet, but it looks great from the screenshots. Keep the good work!

Project logs / Re: TMP006 BOB free build
quick update,
I wouldn't recommend soldering this IC with hot air, it's very likely to damage the infrared sensor.
After a couple of tries, I decided to stop frying sensors, until I sort out a reflow method.
On a damaged sensor, everything works OK except for a funny output on register 00h, this problem is documented somewhere in the ti forums.

Bus Pirate Support / Re: WIP - Bus pirate v4c case
you can try exportin our whole SketchUp 3d model into solid works... just make sure you scale it down by 1000. as in SU uses metrers for milimeters
I looked into that option, the problem with sketchup is the nasty habit of duplicating polys in order to allow texturing on both sides of a face. When exporting, you need to do a large amount of post work to get a workable model. And to be honest, I tend to avoid sketchup like the plague.

On the other hand, I was looking to learn a proper way of transfering board designs into solidworks, wich is now my cad/cam of choice.
