I'm trying to save some money while putting this together and have some questions about the power supply. The cheapest transformers I can find cost over $50 however this power supply costs only $16, comes with voltage selection (I move around a lot), and is a lot lighter. I intend to use this with the JBC T245 and when set to 16V I expect to get around 88W of power which is more than sufficient for me. In the answers section of that product, there are some conflicting opinions about whether the power supply is isolated or not, and the datasheet shows that there is a capacitor between output negative and earth. Would that cause any issues? From what I understand of the design, this capacitor will end up being across the thermistor. Alternatively, I could leave the power supply earth disconnected and only connect the solder tip to earth, is that acceptable? If I decided to not bother with earthing the solder tip, would it limit the kinds of things I can solder?
