Nice PCBs, but don't leave floating copper islands. Either etch it away completely, or preferably connect to GND.

Just an idea: 18F2550 is getting "old", in a sense that pretty much same, or better specs PICs are available for lower price. 18F25J50 for example. http://http://www.microchip.com/wwwproducts/Devices.aspx?dDocName=en534040
A quick glance at the pinouts say they should be OK, but needs an additional 3.3 regulator. Don't know if it would be worth trying to port the next version to a 18F25J50 for example. I know, V2 is almost ready to ship...

Tested the latest version on 18F2550 (not an actual IRToy, just using the IRTOY config) and BPv4, and the echo seems to work. Although getting it to compile, link, and enumerate took a few tries, but can't tell why...
Sending 83 chars using bray terminal and the HW-group terminal Ian used, and echo comes back without problem from both.

@Ian -> as a side-note: the USB LED on the BPv4 seems to be a bit dim, compared to the PWR and MODE LEDs.

Lower speed than cpld/fpga based ones, intentionally low bit count, but interesting idea imo.
I think the idea could be turned into any nbits * 20MSPS * 64 or 256 kSamples LA, without having to deal with address generation. Advanced triggering would probably be impossible with the avr... Thoughts?

If you feel it's ready for some testing, check in. Have a bpv4 on my desk and some c knowledge.
