Bus Pirate Support / Cannot enter Basic Script
Hello, when I try to enter Basic script (command s) I get
I2C>s
Syntax error at char 1

Last time I use it it works perfectly, is there some changes recently? Thank you.

Bus Pirate Support / Changing Baudrate live in basic script
Hello, I want to do a basic script with the bus pirate in UART mode. But inside this script I want to be able to change the Baudrate of the bus (not the terminal). Is it possible ? Thanks.

Ok I will go for another solution cause I'm also unable to know when the Tx is over. I need to send many byte consecutively and I can't do this with the pirate in basic scripting. Thanks anyway.

Bus Pirate Support / Bus Pirate in a Hammond 1551HBK case
My Bus Pirate is the one from Sparkfun and it fits perfectly inside the Hammond 1551HBK box that can be buy from Digi-key for around $2. I don't know if the original Pirate fit in it.

I had to cut the posts inside so the screw cannot be used to close the box, I simply glued it with hot glue. The most challenging part (and the most interesting) was to made the SMD LEDs be seen from the outside of this black box. To do this, I made hole in the box and put some tooth of a transparent plastic fork and fix them with hot glue. They act like "Light Pipe". I have also color them with a black marker to prevent other LEDs to reflect inside.

This is a simple trick I found and want to share.

The Bus Pirate is a great and very usefull tool I simply love it. Thank you for it.

Client software / Re: Jawi's Logic Sniffer client software - support and bug r
I'm unable to run the software from windows 7 64 bits. I always got this screen : [attachment=0]
Java is installed and seems to work normally I have install this 2 softwares : jre-6u23-windows-x64.exe and jdk-6u23-windows-x64.exe. Uninstall reinstall etc still not working. I'm able to run the software on the same machine in a vmware virtual windows XP 32 bits.

I already got this problem and solved it but this time nothing seems to work.

Thanks for the quick answers guys, I think I found a very effective way. In Tera Term there is an option for setting the delay between transmission of lines. I put it to 100ms (maybe 200) and I can paste all my big prog in 1 shot. Thank you for your time and great tool!

Bus Pirate Support / Bus Pirate Basic Script question
Hello, I want to know if there's a way to enter many lines of basic scipt in one file or 1 copy and paste. I'm using BP in I2C scripting mode and I have written a quite long program in basic. The only way I found so far is to write the program in a notepad txt file and after copy n paste each line one after the other every time I want to use my program.

Is there an easier way to do that? I'm using Tera Term but I can use another terminal if there is a better one for that purpose. Thank you.

Now that I am able to run the client, I will go with my little suggestions.

It would be nice if in the I2C graphical decoded view, we have the possibility to display the slave address in 7 or 8 bits (including or not the R/W bit). Also the choice to display this in hex or dec would be usefull. I also think there is too much text inside the blocks forcing us to zoom before seeing the information.

My next suggestion is concerning the great work made by jawi on this project. There is no doubt that the weakness of the Open Logic Sniffer was the original software provided with it. Now with jawi's client, the OLS looks and feel like a more costly commercial product. So my suggestion is to give a little something to jawi to help him keep his motivation. I know OLS is an open project but maybe the price of each device could be raised a little... But this is not of my business it's only a suggestion.

What I will be happy to do personnally is to make a little donation. So if you give me a Paypal address jawi, I will give you a little something for your great work.

Finally I just want to tell why I think jawi deserved to be paid. Be sure that I don't know him personnally and don't even know where he come from. I was very close to buy a commercial Logic analyser but I decided to go for the OLS cause I already own a Bus Pirate and really love it. But I must admit that I was disappointed by the software and think I should have pay more to get something that fits my needs. Now with jawi's client, it's very different and I think finally I've made a very good deal with the OLS.

OK the problem is now solved. I always surf the web using Firefox so my version of Java is 32 bits by default. What I did is get on Java website using IE 64bits and then it let me install a 64 bits version of Java.

Hello ian, under windows 7 64bits when I start the run.bat file, a dos window quickly open and close but I had time to take a screen shot. The first screen shot show the content of the DOS window telling me that Java is not installed on my computer but second show the website telling me that java is installed. Maybe I have to install something else but I don't see it on your website. Thank you for your help.
