Bus Pirate Support / BP v2go died during 3.0 Software Update
Hello,

Today I wanted to upgrade my preordered BusPirate from v2.0 (or 2.2, I don´t remember) to the 3.0 preview.
Here´s the procedure I followed:
1) Connect PGC & PGD with a Jumper while the Board is unplugged
2) Connect the Board to the Computer (MacBook, Mac OS 10.6.2)
3) Invoke the python script with "python PY24qp.py -s /dev/tty.XXXXX -v --auto=./BPv2go/v25-Firmware-v.3.0.hex"

After that, some errors appeared. First I thought these were just the usual Bootloader-Area Verification Errors, but they appeared during the whole upgrade process.

The python script finished with "Verification Completed" (or similiar) but after replugging the Board without the Jumper and connecting with "screen /dev/tty.usbserial-XXXXX 115200" didn´t work (No screen-output after repeatedly pressing Enter).

I repeated the process many times using different speed settings (every single one...) and command-line switches, but the chip remained dead :-( .


I thought, maybe the pyhton programmer isn´t working correctly and booted windows to try to update using the Windows-Utility.

Using the windows programmer (following the official tutorial) I connected to my BP with 9600bd (anything >9600 didn´t work), loaded the .hex-file and clicked the "Write Device"-Button. The Status-Indicator went from 0000 up to ABFE and opened Notepad afterwards, presenting me with a list of Errors.
Here´s a summary of the errors, as i don´t want to post 114KB of text here... (Full Log is attached) :
Offset 0x400-0xB5C (every second one):
"Verify Error at 0xXXX should be: 0xFFFFFF but read: 0x"

Offset 0x7A00-0xABFE (every second one):
"Verify Error at 0xXXXX should be: but read: 0xFFFFFF"


Afterwards I tried to upload the 2.2 firmware again (which worked just fine, when I initially uploaded it to my empty BPv2go), which failed, producing the exact same errors.

I´m really lost now... What did I do wrong or what caused this failure?

Is there still a chance, or is my beloed BusPirate completely ruined?
