Flashrom / Re: Adding Bus Pirate support to flashrom?
There's always the perl/python/window-c scripts you can use. I'm still in the process of internally redesigning the SPI interface in BusPirateGUI. And honestly I don't see much reason for BusPirateGUI to have any kind of explicit flashing support. Because I don't want to start a supported flashchip database for the BusPirateGUI, which would be recreating what flashrom already does for every Operating System except for Windows.

You're more than welcome to contribute a Windows port of flashrom, but I don't know how you are going to be able to support XP, Vista, and Windows 7; there are many other methods that you can use.

And SPI Flashing didn't even work in BusPirateGUI.

PS If you were talking about BusPirateGUI. Also there isn't an official version of flashrom for windows. Also, I don't do windows programming otherthan as a last thought, and because it's just a huge PITA.

Bus Pirate Support / Re: Xbox 360 NAND Reader / Writer
Like I said; the Xbox 360 system uses those two extra pins. And the bus pirate only has the 5 data pins to be used. I'd like to use the BP on my own Xbox 360s but it's just not feasible.

Bus Pirate Support / Re: Probe cable unboxing.
If I ever have any extra cash I plan on fitting my cable with fine-hook probes. All too frequently I end up working with SMD parts and need to do some hacking on them.

I got one too. The only thing I dislike about it is the test clips, would have prefered the data wires to have the nice Tweezer-style instead of the large hook-kind.

Open Bench Logic Sniffer / Re: Parts list (rough design, options)
I'm Sorry.

I'm the kind of "engineer" who likes to get things as correct as can be, before sharing what I have. Which I know I don't do sometimes if I'm excited about my particular project.

I'll share what my idea is, and show screenshot and ask for opinion, and yes, everyone's opinion matters to me.

Are you guys trying to just slap this implementation together without any design? From what I can read, Jack didn't design the LA. And It wouldn't be any work to find/design an USB MCU to go with the LA.

I've seen this project before, the Sump Java client is much nicer. If I'm not mistaken the Java client for this project just generates a verilog file that you have to load up into Webpack in order to view the waveforms.

Someone could take it and convert it to be SUMP compatible.

I already have a MCU design that we could expand and use, I did it for a Digital Design Project my second semester in College.

The project does not appear to be active or well documented - it will take to go through both the Verilog and the Java code to get a full understanding and to make any use of it ...

Sounds to me that you're too lazy to take 20 minutes to read the code.

Bus Pirate Support / Re: Cross Platform ROM Programmer GUI with the Bus Pirate
That sound like a great idea, but I would probably just write a Flashrom GUI from scratch; still using some code from the BusPirateGUI. Since its been a few months since I've looked at the flashrom code, when I sent patches for KT4V board support, I'll have to read up on whatever changes has happened and design an interface for it.

It's was nice to add me as a CC for the flashrom patch, since I haven't signed up for the flashrom mailinglist yet!

Flashrom / Re: Adding Bus Pirate support to flashrom?
biosflasher, have you been in contact with the Coreboot/Flashrom developers?

Depending on what you want to do, you can submit the patches directly to the Coreboot/Flashrom people, or send them to me and I can test and sign off on the patches and hopefully get them into the flashrom repository.

I've actually contributed to flashrom and coreboot previously.

Bus Pirate Support / Re: 2nd AUX pin
To me, having ADC is less useful than having additional IOs. As soon as I can figure out the Microchip Docs, I'll see what I can hack together in the firmware.

Might take me more time than it took to write the GUI program from scratch, it's kinda been a while since I did any uController programming.
