    For those who want to know what “Lora” is: LOng RAnge RF communication.
    Forget the ionosphere and hams talking half-way around the world: that’s HF (under 30MHz) and these chips [SX1272] start at about 800MHz.

    Semtech’s spead spectrum LoRa™ is indeed looking a UHF wireless data game changer! Both bare & CPU fitted modules covering down to 433 MHz (along with friendly USB linked setup software) already are available from several Chinese outlets – Appcon, Dorji & HopeRF etc. US giant MicroChip has just taken LoRa on too ! Ranges an order of magnitude greater than traditional modules ARE being verified, with several km typical in urban areas (rather than the usual several 100m).
