ZofzPCB 3D gerber viewer update

in PCBs by DP | 5 comments

Zofz posted an update on his ZofzPCB gerber viewer we posted previously:

ZofzPCB Gerber Viewer takes the Gerber file data from your CAD/CAM files along with a little additional information and transforms it into a 3D image with colours used to differentiate nets, customisable stackup dimensions and an Autopilot function that lets you sit back and enjoy the ride through your design.

    Thanks DP!

This is fantastic! I really do not know how I missed or ignored it first time around. For the first time in about 15 years I have designed and sent of PCBs for manufacture. Silly me forgot to generate the solder mask gerbers. If only I had this three days ago I would have spotted that the gerbers were missing.

Thanks for this. I downloaded it and it works a treat! :)

  3. I have released a new version of ZofzPCB Gerber Viewer ver0.4
    What is new:
    1. load ipc356 – that is a popular netlist or bare board flying probe test file, available as export from most of the CADs.
1.1 you can browse board by component, pins, nets.
    1.2 identify object under cursor.
1.3 Components are displayed in a very simple box pin form.
    2. 3D gimmick – thickens of layers. and over-thickens of layers in a screensaver mode.
    See it in action!

Looks great. I’m going to give it a try today. Potential future features would be to include the manufacturing specs of the board (i.e. min trace/space width, min hole size, min annular ring, etc.)

Got this to work in linux :).
    Fedora 20 with wine 1.7
Althought it doesn’t seem to recognize my drill file when using auto mode, haven’t tried manual yet, using Kicad generated gerbers and drills.

Other then that it seems to work fine.
